I am a Registered Psychologist in Alberta. I have over 7 years of experience providing evidence-based relational and attachment-focused therapy to individuals, couples and families in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB). My early career focused on providing career counselling services in the public sector.
My Journey
Psychology was not my first choice at the beginning of my university studies, however, I was hooked once I took my first Introduction to Psychology course. I completed my first degree at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College (Memorial University of Newfoundland) and knew I wanted (needed) to pursue my masters degree. That however, became a difficult task when I moved to Northern Alberta, but I made the best of it and spent 8 years working in the career counselling field.
I stepped out of the work world for 7 years to become a full-time mom to 3 wonderful children. It was during the latter part of those years that I discovered an online masters program that would allow me to fulfil my dream of completing a masters degree in psychology. In 2013 I started a Masters in Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University. With that program complete, I set out to reach my goal of becoming a psychologist, which I gained in February of 2023.
Today, I have the honour of working with individuals, couples and families in the RMWB where my main therapeutic focus includes using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP), some Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Circle of Security Parenting (COS-P). I continue to be a lifelong learner and typically complete one or two trainings per year as well as participate in monthly group Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) supervision sessions.
